Write for us
We welcome thoughtful pitches about the places, seasons, customs, journeys and daily rhythms that shape athletic life across the world. A useful proposal starts with one clear subject and tells us what a reader will understand after reading it.
What suits the Journal
We are interested in specific, evergreen ideas that open a window onto sporting life beyond the contest. A pitch might examine how a setting changes the feel of a sporting day, trace the background of a custom, compare different ways of travelling to an event, or make an ordinary routine easier to understand. Keep the subject distinct and the scope manageable.
Making a strong pitch
Tell us the working title, central question, intended reader and likely shape of the piece. Explain why the subject belongs in Global Athlete Journal and what context you would include. Do not send a finished article unless we have requested one, and do not present personal experience or a broad claim as proof that a practice is universal.
Send a proposal
Use the Contact page and choose the editorial question option for a pitch. Include a short outline and any relevant links in your message. We cannot promise acceptance or publication, and a proposal should not assume that a commission has been agreed.
Sport has a life beyond the contest
We look at the places, seasons and customs that give athletic life its texture, from the first journey to the quiet hours after play.
